Chapter One: A New Way
Dexter was finishing fixing the computer device he had created. He wanted to show Fiona his creation. After an entire year, Fiona and Dexter had become close cousins. He showed her anything he created, because she'd always help him. He was creating a computer assistant to be like a search engine, anti- spam, and antivirus software. He was almost done when he heard his door open.
"Dexter, Fiona's here," his mom said. Fiona walked in to Dexter's room.
When Dexter's mom left, Fiona spoke. "So, what's your latest mind blowing invention?" She asked. Dexter checked the loading bar. One percent left. As Dexter waited, Fiona noticed something on Dexter's desk. It peaked threw a couple of papers that had equations on them and pictures of holes. She pulled it out from all of the papers, and saw it was a computer game.
Dexter turned to see what Fiona was doing. She pointed to the game. She gave a playful smile and rolled her eyes.
"Another video game?" she said tossing it on to his bed. He got up from his desk chair and picked it up.
"I found it in my dad's box of stuff he had in our attic. I wanted to see if I could find something we could bond about. So, the only thing I found was that," Dexter said. He heard his computer ding, and turned to see his creation was done. Fiona looked at the cover again. Web Wars. The revolutionary computer game available in any dimension. Yeah right; Fiona thought. But still, she felt there was something - Interesting- about it.
"I got it!" Dexter called. Fiona set the game down and crouched down to be at Dexter's height level while he was in the chair. She looked at the screen as she saw a shape of a person appear. It was a girl with long violet hair and green eyes. Her hair was wrapped in a braid and her eyes were closed. It was like she was waiting for something.
"Please insert game in drive," The girl said with her eyes open. Dexter looked around, and saw the computer game lying on his bed. Fiona picked it up and opened the case. She pulled out the disc and held it carefully and placed it in. What could the game have to do with anything?, Fiona and Dexter thought. They inserted it anyway, not knowing what to expect. They waited when the screen went black. They thought it was loading, but then the room became black. It went from the computer, to the desk, to the floor, and went on everything else. Including Dexter and Fiona. There was then a blinding flash of light and when it went away, Dexter and Fiona were gone!
"Hello? Hello? Hey! Hey, kid wake up!" A girl's voice said. Fiona? Dexter thought slowly opening his eyes. No, just a blond girl in a pink shirt, and a denim skirt. Dexter fully woke up with a start then. He looked around as he saw a like graph paper land, but everything was black. The sky just looked black. There was a large moon and what looked like a castle. It all reminded him of that Tron: Legacy movie he saw last year. Where am I? Fiona? Is it already night? Dexter thought. The girl was still standing there, watching him look around the world in a small circle. He turned noticing her still staring at him.
"Now would be a good time to leave," She said, with fear in her voice, pointing to a large light heading their way. She pulled out a card, threw it in the air and shouted "Car!" The card then turned into a large car, before it touched the ground. She grabbed Dexter's hand and they ran into the car. She started it up and drove away almost as fast as Dexter's heart was beating. For one, he was with a girl, two he had no idea where he was going, three he had no idea where he was, four he didn't know where Fiona was, and five he was with a girl! "Hold on we're going to go plane," she said pressing a button with a plane on it. The car they were in then turned into a plane and they flew over a canyon.
Dexter looked down to see who had been following them, and saw they were people in motorcycles or what looked like them with flags of a woman on the back. The girl flew the plane for maybe a minute more just going straight but then flew it down into another canyon.
"Aren't we going to crash?" Dexter said as the plane was going down with intense speed. The girl pulled out a card that had a barcode on it threw it down and said "No worries."
A hidden circle then appeared and opened as the two of them flew in. The girl then landed the plane steadily as the door closed. Her and Dexter both got out, as the girl's card to open the door flew back into her hand. She then took the first card out of key slot and the plane then disappeared. Dexter felt like he was going nuts.
"Oh, by the way, I'm Amelia Wells. But everyone calls me Amy," She said turning back to shake Dexter's hand. She then was about to leave the large empty room when she saw Dexter hadn't moved an inch from where he was originally.
"Hey, come on. You haven't even met the rest of the team yet," She said taking his hand. Team? Was Amy automatically assuming I'll join her team? I don't even know what's going on and she thinks I'm going to do this? Who does she think she is? Dexter thought. He continued to follow her though, curious to see what the team was about anyway. They went into a full white room with splashes of color on the furnishings. There were kids sitting on the couch with cans of soda on a glass coffee table.
There was a boy with long shaggy brown hair, a blue with a teal trim T-shirt, navy blue jeans, dark blue Vans, and green wristbands. A girl was next to him talking with a cheerful smile. She had brown hair and a baby blue T-shirt, a pair of light jeans, and light blue Vans. There was another girl standing in the kitchen who looked like she was cooking something. She had short blue hair and a blue t-shirt. Was that the thing around here? Dexter thought. There was someone else in the kitchen too. A young women no more older than 24, with waist length violet hair that was slightly wavy with a green hair band in her hair. She wore a pretty blue dress with a blue vest. It looked like the two of them were cooking lunch.
"That's Scott, his girlfriend Rose, the blue haired one is Charlotte, and the women next to her is Maria. I don't know where William is. He'd love to meet you," Amy said. Maria reacted when she heard that.
"I'm not to sure about that Amy. Besides, he's not all that happy with you anyway, since you keep leaving without telling anyone. He actually went out looking for you," Maria said. Her voice was soft and sweet like an angel's. Maria then looked back to what she was doing. About a second later, a man came in. He had black hair and some slight goatee like Flynn Rider in Tangled. When he entered all grew silent. They waited to hear what he had to say. He walked up to Amy and Dexter. Amy seemed very scared. Dexter attempted to maintain a brave attitude. William watched him, then turned to Amy. Dexter was remembering Fiona's dad watching the two of them. His stare was the same ice cold and hard to read.
He moved his glance to Amy, and Amy just shrugged. Could Amy have gotten in trouble more times than I thought? Maria did say she runs off a lot, Dexter thought.
"Look, he fell from the sky, I was curios, and lucky I found him because Rouge's guards were coming his way," Amy explained quickly to William.
"But think about the consequences you risked taking! They could have caught you! Do realize what you could have done?!" William shouted. His rage was like the beast in Beauty and the Beast, Dexter thought.
"Like they could have caught me! I run almost as fast as the speed of sound! Plus, I could use my psychokinesis to hold 'em off! Or even my force field, or my electricity!" Amy said defending herself. Her running comment reminded Dexter of something- Fiona!
"I don't mean to intrude or anything, but I come from my room. This huge black thing came and took me, my cousin, and my computer creation and dumped us here. I need your help to find them!" Dexter explained.
"Most people who come here in a group get scattered, so there's really no telling where they could have showed up," Amy replied.
"By now, Rouge could have gotten them," William said.
"And with that, I ask, who's Rouge?" Dexter asked. Everyone then stared at him. William crossed over to him and was almost nose to nose with him. He pulled back. He was about to leave, when he said, "I'll look for them. Fiona has red and Jo has purple hair."
"How did you know?!" Dexter asked, shocked. William didn't look back. He just left. Dexter just kept looking. So many questions were running threw his head. He decided to sit down at the couch. Amy sat down next to him. Dexter hanged his head down just wondering. Amy set a hand on his shoulder. Dexter lifted his head slightly to look at her.
"He'll find them. William knows this place by heart. He's been here for 20 years after all," Amy said.
"Amy! Don't share that with everyone!" Maria shouted. Even when she yells she sounds like an angel, Dexter thought. Amy blushed and looked down. "Rouge is the Queen of this computer world. She's trapped many people here in this world. Him and William have very um, different ideas on this world. Even though she's a queen she rules sort of like a tyrant. So, William has always wanted to end it, so we created a team to put an end to her," Maria explained.
"What do you mean 'trapped'?" Dexter asked.
"Don't worry. We'll be able to get out to our worlds, but Maria and William can't leave," Rose explained. Dexter decided to not question it.
"I'm guessing William will want more team mates, so I suggest you practice with me," Scott said.
"This is not a good idea, Scott! Should we even trust him! For all we know, he could be a spy of Rouge's!" Charlotte exclaimed. Her blue hair then turned orange as did her blue eyes. Dexter stared at her.
"Charlotte has a power to have her hair and eyes the color of her mood like a mood ring. Right now she's worried about your well being," Amy said. So many things were confusing Dexter, when they were trying to help him understand everything.
